Dexter Community Schools’ Seeks Local Food for Farm to School Program

Dexter Community Schools’ Food and Nutrition department is interested in establishing relationships with more local farmers who may be able to meet their needs for certain fresh produce items.

Products of particular interest to the schools include raw fruits and vegetables that can be served on salad bars (apples, pears, cherry tomatoes, sweet peppers, carrots, broccoli, radishes, salad greens, etc.), as well as vegetables that can be roasted or steamed with minimal processing (asparagus, parsnips, green beans, kale, and potentially potatoes, sweet potatoes, and certain winter squash varieties).

If you are a farmer who is potentially interested in sourcing these or other items to Dexter Community Schools, please fill out the attached Farmer Outreach Packet to share more information about your farm and products with Dexter Food and Nutrition.  Gathering this information will help the Food and Nutrition Department connect with farmers in their area that may be a good fit for their needs.  Please fill these out and return them to Caitlin Joseph, Farm to School Coordinator, via email at DexterFarmtoSchool@gmail.com, or via mail to 317 Virginia Ave. Ann Arbor, MI 48103.

Farmers can download the application forms from Dexter Community School’s website For Farmers page
