Farmers Market Wednesday August 14th!

Greetings –

I can’t believe it is the middle of August! This is when all the good food starts really showing up. Gads of tomatoes, corn galore, melons start to ripen (if we get any in this part of the state) and all the other amazing summer fruits. Keep in mind this spring was VERY tough on our growers here in Michigan and prices and product may reflect this. Patience and understanding are appreciated.

If you are interested in purchasing tickets for our 5 Healthy Towns Fabulous Feast on September 22 click here or come buy them from me at the market booth! It is a delicious fundraiser to drum up dollars for all the 5 Healthy Towns farmers markets! $50 per person for 5 courses, music, two drinks and a silent auction.

Market details this week are as follows:

When: every Wednesday from 1-5pm through the end of October (we then move indoor to the Washington St. Education Center on Saturday’s only for November and December!)

Where: Corner of M52 and Old US 12. There is plenty of parking near the businesses on the south side. Please keep the north spaces and those closest to the bank open for bank patrons.

Who: Lovely humans working to steward healthy community!

**GOOD TIMES KETTLE CORN: Marge is unable to join us this week but you can count on her for next!

WHITE HEATH WOODS: gorgeous wood worked goods. Bill has a real talent with his hand turned wooden bowls and boards. Stop in and say hello and witness his beautiful craftsmanship!

KAPNICK ORCHARD: Fruit!, berries, first of the apples, nut butters, sweet breads, treats and more.

GOLDEN FLEECE FARM: sustainably pasture raised beef, chicken eggs and honey!

PREGITZER FARM: Back for the season, Wade will have gads of sweet corn for sale this week along with other seasonal produce. Don’t miss him.

NEEDLELANE FARMS: local seasonal and sustainably raised veggies; spinach, lettuce, kale, chard, salad mix, beets, fennel, kohlrabi, cabbage, arugula, herbs, green onions and leeks! Eggs and honey to boot.

JAM MAN: with great sadness we will lose Brian until September. His garden calls and the demand of two markets is too much. Look for him at the Coldwater Farmers Market.

HANKRA JEWEL: gorgeous hand made silver and copper wearable and wall art!

DOUG’S MUGS:  lovely hand thrown pottery. Both functional and beautiful – from mugs to pie plates to oil and soap dispensors.

STONEHEARTH BAKERY:
breads and cookies all made from scratch and without preservatives. Pepperoni rolls, cinnamon rolls, cheese breads, cookies and more.

LA BAGUETTE: taking a well deserved break this week! Look for them next Wednesday

MARKS FARM: One of our veteran venders! Deb brings a host of lovely seasonal vegetables.

JACOB’S FRESH FARM: Local, seasonal veggies, eggs, and honey.

SWEET AND SALTY COOKIE COMPANY: Jeff and Jocelyn bring delicious homemade cookies: chocolate chip, M&M, double dip chocolate chip, store’s, dark chocolate pecan, maple oatmeal raisin, peanut butter and snickerdoodle! YUM.

BORDINE FARMS: Dahlia bouquets!

AWAKENED PROVISIONS: Kelsey is also taking a well deserved break from the market this week. Look for her return next Wednesday!

PARA PARA CREAMERY: Po will be offering his magic through cheddar, young gouda, feta, garlic feta spread and chipotle feta spread (yes, this is a thing and it is SO good)

K’S ACRE’S: seasonal veggies, fruit, cinnamon and traditional maple syrup and more.

AFFEATHERMATIONS (weather permitting): Joan brings her smile and style to her beautiful nature inspired art pieces – that are just as functional as they are easy to look at.

SMELLZ SO GOOD:  Kimberly and Carlton are bringing slow burning soy wax candles and wax melts to both the Saturday and Wednesday Markets! Ask for a smell of all their flavors – they are amazing.

DEXTER FOLSOM: hand crafted blue bird boxes and bird feeders.

As always, we are ever so grateful for the City of Chelsea for their support and the Chelsea State Bank for their outstanding open arms. This Wednesday market sure is special. See you there!
