Bill and Margaret Stech support the family farm started by George Merkel in 1981, and have built a strong farming and greenhouse operation. Their season starts early with asparagus, rhubarb and strawberries. The remainder of their produce comes in late July to early August and ends with brussel sprouts that are still available in December. They specialize in bedding plants starting a week before mother’s day, finishing with mums in the late summer. Their produce includes everything from basic vegetables to many exotic Asian vegetables. Standard vegetables include green beans, tomatoes, eggplant, kale, pickling cucumbers, potatoes, melons, carrots, pumpkins, squash, broccoli, collards, and Swiss Chard, and Asian vegetables include bittermelon, bokchoi, edible gourd, and wintermelon.
