Chelsea Update is profiling vendors at the Chelsea Farmers Market and this week it’s Heim Gardens.
Heim Gardens has been at the Chelsea Farmers Market for 15 years. The family farm, located in Sylvan Township, has been around for 145 years.
It’s owned by Glenn and Mary Heim, and their son, Kevin, with help from wife, Stephanie. Kevin and Stephanie are the folks you see at the market each week as vendors.
“It’s a vegetable farm with five greenhouses,” said Kevin Heim.
They grow a huge variety of vegetables including tomatoes, green beans, radishes, onions, cabbage and gourds. This week they expect to offer leeks, tomatoes, eggplant, beets, potatoes, onions, cabbage, peppers, carrots, zucchini, kohlrabi, green and yellow beans.
In addition, they offer a wide variety of fresh flowers including annuals, perennials, and hanging baskets.
