To our local food community:
Thank you so much for your support of the farmers markets this summer and the new winter season extension. We could not have done it without you! We have enjoyed trading recipes and sharing our harvest with a community that appreciates fresh local food and art.
We had a rough start with a wet spring, causing many of the crops to come in later than usual. Some of our farmers couldn’t even get to their fields because they were under water. Summer was hot and dry, and we were lucky to see an abundant choice of food at both the Bushel Basket and Saturday Chelsea Market. If you were a customer on one of our many rainy Wednesdays, when we were all huddled under our tents, or on a sunny Saturday enjoying live music, we were glad to share the season with you.
It’s been an unusually warm winter, which means our produce vendors have been able to bring fresh vegetables from the fields up until our last day on December 19. Our cottage food and craft vendors enjoyed a good winter market season with Holidays just around the corner. This winter market was our first, and we exceeded expectations in both vendor and customer turnout. We are sad to be ending the market in December, but since it was an experiment we are happy with the results. Due to your comments and strong support, we will work hard to provide a market year round for 2016-2017.
Until Spring, Be Well!
